Keep mainframe session from not being logged off

hi all,

Is there a way to keep my mainframe session from not being logged off.
I know few of my friends use certain tso command. It is not working on my system . Pls help !

Hello,

Is there some reason you should remain logged on when you are not using the system?

If there is a valid reason, have your manager talk with the security or support people and have your timeout changed. Most places do not feel there is a compelling reason to allow an idle session to "just sit there" indefinitely.

it is sorta like giving security to people who don't realize they need the protection.

if your session always stays active, that mean someone else can use your session when you leave your desk.

I tried your suggestion (&120), but didn't get any result. I write '&120' on the 'command prompt' & pressed enter, is it what you have suggested or I've done something wrong, please suggest.

I think it is proper to want to keep TSO from logging you off.

I may be positioned on up to 8 TSO screens, and if I'm called away (physically or to another application, or just on the phone) on another task, repositioning myself will be very time consuming.

By preventing the logoff using the &120 (refresh every 120 seconds) on the ST screen, I hold my place.

I can lock my terminal for security reasons via ctl-alt-del, so that's taken care of.

If this hogs resources others need at my installation, then I do have a responsibility not to do this when unnecessary, but that should go without saying in any professional organization.

I believe that the requirement to be in sdsf has not been completely understood. It won't work from just anywhere in tso/ispf.

I set up 4 PF keys that get me going 123. OK maybe 1234.

I set up Shift-F6 = &123, but I think you're talking about something else.

Simple way to prevent your session from logging off:

Put Paper weight or stick tape, on any of the Arrow key and leave

.

Till the time the key is getting pressed, the session won't logoff.
