Frank,

When ICETOOL is invoked from an assembler application, does symbol resolution occur? If a SYMNAMES file exists before the call to ICETOOL, and if the ICETOOL control cards (and various CNTL members named in the USING parameters) contain symbols, will they all be resolved?

We will probably use the TOOLIN interface (as opposed to the parameter list interface) if that makes any difference, although I'm not absolutely certain of that.

Thanks,

David

Frank,

Sorry, never mind... I see on page 687 of the Application Programming Guide that the symbols will work when ICETOOL is invoked from a program.

"You can use symbols in operators from the TOOLIN data set or your parameter list."

Thanks,

David
