Hi Srishar,

DL/I - Data Language/I
In DB2, The queries you requested in your application program are directly retrive dat from the database.But in IMS, the calls issued are execute through DL/I,i.e.,call first issued to DL/I,then DL/I retrive the database into its area which neede to execute that call.

In any suggesions/mistakes, please correct me.
