Tools available in Mainframe Environment

how many tools are there to test the mainframe environment programs and how many are in use ?

So many tools r there,

Debugging: XPEDITOR etc
Configuration Managenent : CHGMAN, ENDEVIOUR etc
Database: SPUFI, QMF
For Production: INFOMAN etc

For testing BAtch and Online programs:

Xpediter can be used.

For testing Online programs only.

CA-Intertest 6.0 can be used.

Well, I use XDC from Cole Software:

Then, as mentioned, there's Xpediter from Compuware

then there's good old TSO TEST:

Type HELP TEST under TSO and you'll see the writeup on it; it's also documented in this IBM manual:

and then there's always "desk checking", where you sit down with a program listing and read it line-by-line and follow it's flow, trying to find a bug...
