Hi,

As a KSDS can be accessed randomly and tapes can be accessed only sequentially I believe KSDS can not be created on tape.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

regards,
David.

I think that are difference between create and read.
If want to store a Vsam on tape you can do it but to read it I David P reply is correct except for Virtual Tape that works like a disk.

Thanx for the replies..

I too believe so, We can create VSAM on Tape but to read we need to bring them to DASD and use.

I am still looking for a JCL which would create or migrate VSAM KSDS to tape.
