Can anyone clearly state what QSAM and BSAM actually used or specified for.

QSAM Files are your PS Files. BSAM not used, I hope.

QSAM and BSAM are both access methods that can be used for PS files. QSAM operates on logical records. BSAM operates on blocks (you have to do your own deblocking of the logical records).
