Hi ALL,

Just wanted to know that is "GDG a type of VSAM file".
I Know We Use IDCAMS utility to cretae the Base of the GDG, But does GDG have any properties of a VSAM file.

According to me it's strucure is like a normal PS file with different versions.

Would like to get some docs also for the same....

Correct me if i am wrong...

Thanks in advance....

Hi Akhil,

No, a VSAM cannot be a GDG base or a GDS (Generation DataSet).
Only sequential files can be a GDG's.

Hope I reached you.
