I wrote a little utility and no longer have the source. I am going to another company and want to take the load module with me. I can "flatten out" (and reload) the PDS with an IEBCOPY. However, I am unable to reload the file after it has been downloaded and uploaded to/from a PC. ( want to put it on a CD). We are using Rhumba and I read somewhere it needs to be fixed blocked rather than unblocked. any suggestions?

Thanks

Mac

Hi Malcolm,

May be bad new for you then a suggestion.

Most of the time simply copying the load module from one mainframe shop to another mainframe shop doesn't work.

This is because, COBOL programs are not "write once run anywhere" programs especially the executibles are almost in compatible.

Let me know if you find a solution to this. I also have a number of load modules to be ported on another site.

Thanks,
Parikshit

Thanks for the reply. This is an assembler program and usually was sent out on a tape (remember those?) and has never required any modifications. About 12 years ago I worked at a company that had offices in two different cities. We didn't have email as we do today and we used to send "stuff" (spreadsheets, word documents, Flow charts, etc.) back and forth by uploading them (TSO) to the mainframe, and having the other person download them to their PC. As long as we always did it in binary there was no problem. I am still hopeful I can convince the computer gods to let me do this. I may write a program to stream the load module byte by byte and then see if I can reassemble it on the other end.

Any suggestions will be welcome, and thanks again for the reply.

I've seen load modules distributed in TSO XMIT format. Have you considered that as an option?
