What is LPAR and how does it work?

What is LPAR?

In what way it is effective and how does it works?

Why do we need it?

Hy,
LPAR means just Logical Partition.
Each z/OS-System is called a LPAR,
threrfore also you work in a LPAR.

maybe your company has a Tetssystem and
a Productionsystem, which are logically separated.
These two LPARs can reside on the same physical
machine or on two physical machines.

This is like you define on your PC Disk
two Logical Drives, almost, but more complex.

Hi ,

with respect to LPAR, Logical Partion...
in current Project we have 4 application's each application will be kept under same LPAR or different . It depends on the usage of that application.i.e, each application occupies certain amount of volume.. they will keep in mind this they will divide the collection of volumes to different LPAR. like martine told you earlier...same way they will organize .....
