Copy selected members (editable) to new PDS

Hi,

I am fairly new to TSO and am currently trying to copy about 60 members from a big PDS to another. I don't want to copy them all, only those 60. If I use 3.4 and put a 'c' in front of the ones I want or if I use 3.2 and put an 's' in front of the ones I want, I cannot edit these members once they have been copied to the new location. Is there a way of copying multiple members and making them editable in the new PDS without going file by file?

Use option 3.3

Enter C on command line, then enter FROM dataset on 1st panel with quotes, press enter.

Enter TO dataset on 2nd panel, press enter.

Enter an "S" to select each member to be copied.

Whoa, wait a minute. Something's not right here.

If you are using ISPF option 3.4 (Data Set List Utility) to select a PDS, display the member list, and then copy selected members by placing a "C" on the selection line, and then selecting the target PDS for the copy, nothing in that process makes a member "non editable". As a matter of fact, I would think that if you don't have the authority to edit a member in a PDS, then I doubt you have the ability to copy a member into it either.

ISPF Option 3.2 (Data Set Utility) doesn't offer an option for copying members.

As cpuhawg has already mentioned, ISPF Option 3.3 (Move/Copy Utility) is also typically used for copying selected members.

If any of this is being done from within a source code change management system (i.e. SCLM, Endevor, Librarian, Panvalet, etc.) then none of what I've said above applies.

Thx, I figured it out with that. Like you said, use 3.3, type C in the command line and in the new window, put the TO dataset AND choose option 2 in the SCLM setting. If I don't choose option 2, I cannot edit the members.
