| yes a seperate forum is needed to distinguish between learners and scholore .those who are strong and perfect in the subject can help those guys in students forum by their replies and answers.that will be the best way when u r a fresher .scholarly questions might make freshers more confused so go on with separate forum |

Yes, we are working on that.
We will announce a new forum for students & freshers soon, where there is no WARN/BAN... |

Anyone who participates in this forum is obviously not adverse to helping others.
However, some times the best help we can give is to encourage people to use the manuals and conduct their own experiments. People who make this a habit will thrive.
I don't mind seeing the stupid questions. We all ask stupid questions. It's the lazy questions that annoy.
I think it is William that handles these the right way: A link into the manual that answers the lazy question. Points them in the right direction. You can lead a horse to water... |

Do we really need a separate Forum for Mainframe Students and freshers?

| You may remember the days when jobseekers used to post their resumes in this site. But after creating mainframeindia.com, we don't get resumes here..... |
Yes, We can control SPAM and Adds in the forum by strict validations in user registration. But we can't avoid students. Instead of deleting their posts and banning them, why don't we redirect them to another Forum?
So what's your opinion about creating a separate forum for students and mainframe freshers where there is No Rules, No Ban and even No warnings. Will it work? |

As far as I am concerned , not a separate forum, but a separate part of this forum is needed, I mean separate this forum by adding a new part which is for students or freshers like me.. .. |

If the purpose is to avoid annoying and repeating questions I don't think it could be solved.
Because most of such questions (all in my observation) comes from
1. Intentionally irritating members' questions
2. Questions on Fundamentals or repeated posts from those who are lazy to search our forum
Both of them will continue to post here even after the split of the forum, because they too will think that the experienced opinion??!! could not be got from freshers forum.
There is a chance that Experianced members do not visit the new forum at all.
The Knowledge tranfer/sharing purpose is in question.
There are a lot of competing technologies like IMS, DB2, VSAM, IDMS most of experienced in one technology is a fresher in another (for all his lifetime!)
An experienced user can identify a freshers question from the tittle of the post and skip. If not, he can assume that he is fresher on that particular technology.
A fresher can not classify the depth of the question since he is a fresher. He might post wrong and to oversee the posting is an additional task. |

As this site is ment for Mainframe, why a new one required?
Everyone visits this to gain knowledge in MF, either a fresher or an exp doesn't make any diff... |

Yes of course, there should be separate forums ...
since me as a fresher, always hesitate to post my questions.. becoz i feel it wudsound stupid to so many ppl out there even though for me it will be a very big deal...
if there is a separate forum for ppl like me.. wer each question will b asked n answered in a way first time starters will understand, it would be really nice to develop interest in more people, n helping them great deal to improve themselves better in a comfortable way.
Thanks,
Shalini |
