Hi

1 block = 32KB of formatted memory/ 42KB of Unformatted memory
1 track = 6 blocks
1 cyl = 15 Tracks.

So obiviously hirarchy is
- Block
- Track
- Cylinder

hi,
the blocksize, tracks, cyclenders size depending up on hard disk.

that is depending on disk size.

Hi Siva,

The answers to your ques depends on the type of disk you are dealing with.

Also the # of blks depends on their size and the size is selected by the creator of the dataset in question.

In the case of variable length files EACH block on the track can be of a different size.

Fixed length files can contain blockes of differing lengths on the same track if the file has been MODed during its life.
