Way to send Email from system in italics

Is there a way to send mail from system in italics ? Below is my code

HELO FMRMVS1
RCPT TO: <Mailid>
DATA

SUBJECT: Notification
MIME-Version: 1.0
Content-type: text/html;
<PRE> <FONT FACE="ARIAL italic" SIZE=2 color=blue>

Body
.
QUIT

But still i am getting email in ARIAL font only ( not italic)
