WHAT ABOUT THE FUTURE OF MF PROJECTS

Most of the companies migrated there pojects from mf to other lang. so what will happen with mainframe projecst....and what abt MF DEVELOPERS...IS IT NECESSARY TO CHANGE OUR TECHNOLY ALSO...?

I dont know what will be future of MF projects....but looking from the market data it seems that migration is too difficult.Just read this article:

Most of the business runs on COBOL and CICS.Java and other things are fancy stuff which runs either at the first tier i.e client layer or in the middle tier..but the background processing is still done through batch processing.The security and stability is the other advantage which big iron provides.Just imagine the amount of data which a credit card or bank processes through out a day..such huge amount of data is processed thru mainframe systems.Database like DB2/IDMS can handle this load.

Mainframe is a huge ocean and no one can be perfect in this field cos there are lot of things and as you deeper and deeper ..i.e drill urself more into this you will learn more new things.
