Hi,
after looking at Getting File Creation Date I have questions.
Can we use relative generation with LISTCAT command in JCL as I am getting maxcc=12,if tried to use and out put is coming as:
LISTCAT LEVEL(XXXXXX.XXXXX204.N01(-240)) -
IDC3203I ITEM 'XXXXXX.XXXXX204.N01(' DOES NOT ADHERE TO RESTRICTIONS
ALL
IDC3202I ABOVE TEXT BYPASSED UNTIL NEXT COMMAND. CONDITION CODE IS 12
If it can be done, then please suggest required parameters. |

Doing a LISTCAT LEVEL, which data set name level is the (-240)? It is not part of the data set name, is it? Therefore, why did you think you could use it in a LISTCAT command?
And why are you replying to a topic inactive for almost a year? |

Robert,
1. If I use absolute generation with LISTCAT command, its responding fine but as per requirement,I want to process with relative generation to enlist the dataset information.
I was not sure for required parameters for this So used entries and level parameters but result was same(I.e. maxcc=12) on both occurances.
Please help to get it done.
2. I searched for required place to put the question and got this a related topic so placed query here.
From next time, I will take care of timestamp of topic as well, but this time please help here only. |

Haven't you got the code for this from a previous thread ?
You should have because you thanked me for it.
What on earth is going on here |

Hi Expat,
I am always thankful to you for your help.
But by posting the query here,I am trying to find creation date using LISTCAT by passing relative generation of GDG as its coming into my mind again & again that can we use LISTCAT command with relative generation also.If yes then what parameters need to pass? |

Er, NO, you can not use relative parameters in LISTCAT.
You can use the code posted earlier to get the absolute generation and then feed that through LISTCAT, but as you already have the creation date, why bother. |

Thanks Expat for confirmation.
Now I can move ahead.
I'll work further as per your suggestion(I.e. File tailoring Services for Skelton JCL) on previous thread and keep posting the queries,if got any.
Thanks Robert for your quick response on query. |
